The Forbidden City took a total of 14 years to make. It took over 100,000 craftsman to finish the job and over 1 million laborers. It was created with the most unique materials in China which included, red mud tiles, building stones, glazed tiles,golden bricks, and colored stones. the Forbidden City was 720,000 sq meters. Also, 16 million people call this their home. The Forbidden City served as the home of emperors and their households as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years. Since 2012, the Forbidden City has seen an average of 15 million visitors annually, and received more than 16 million visitors in 2016 and 2017.
